Fragile Monuments
FRAGILE MONUMENTS is a performative installation in which two “human statues” form fleeting images of intimacy.
FRAGILE MONUMENTS is a performative installation in which two ‘human statues’ are continuously repositioned on a collapsing pedestal by the use of an electric winch operated by the spectator. Suspended, tilted, and carefully arranged, the bodies form a series of fleeting intimate images. Each new placement generates a different relationship between the figures: moments of support, surrender, dependence, or imbalance.
As the pedestal gives way beneath them, the performers oscillate between monumentality and vulnerability — between being elevated and fallen. The work invites viewers to confront their own role in constructing, manipulating, and witnessing intimacy, exposing the fragile boundary between empathy and detachment, care and control.
