The Meeting
THE MEETING is a performative installation that invites visitors to encounter themselves through the reflection of the other.
THE MEETING is a performative installation that explores the space between two people. When, why, and how do we experience closeness or distance in relation to one another? And what do our projections onto the other reveal about ourselves — and vice versa?
Two visitors encounter each other inside a wooden tunnel placed in public space. A large one-way mirror stands between them. Through a precise choreography of light and sound, each visitor becomes visible or invisible to the other. At times, reflections merge and overlap, blurring the line between self and other.
Through the interplay of spatial design, light, presence and absence, interactivity, and sound, a meeting unfold that moves beyond the everyday. The work invites visitors to let the boundaries between self and other, between looking and being looked at, and between public and private become fluid. It creates space for unexpected and intimate encounters between people who might not necessarily meet.
